English sparkles in high profile 500m event

Letterkenny’s Mark English put in an impressive performance to win the 500m at the Great North City Games near Newcastle in 59.58 seconds.
The UCD athlete, who has been in excellent end of season form, got the better of a number of top athletes including the USA’s Johnny Dutch and Great Britain’s Rabah Yousif.
Yousif made the final of the 400m at the IAAF World Athletics Championships in Beijing.
“I’m delighted to be here and delighted to take the win,” the Donegal athlete said afterwards.
