Kris Meeke and Paul Nagle lay second after the opening day of Rally Australia on the World Rally Championship.
The Co Tyrone driver took the overall lead on stage 4 and held the Citreon DS3 in that position until the last run of the day, stage 8.
He was third quickest on that stage which dropped him to second overall two seconds behind the Volkswagen of Jari-Matti Latvala .
Meeke however was angry about the poor visibility. “The dust was hanging. Driving in sixth gear and you can’t see the end of the bonnet.”
Drivers Champion Sebastien Ogier is 4.7 seconds adrift of Meeke in third.
