Kevin McHugh

Finn Harps got back to winning ways on Friday night beating Shelbourne 1-0 at Finn Park.

The games only score came eight minutes into the second half from the penalty spot.

Kevin McHugh powered passed keeper Greg Murray after a Michael Funston cross came of the arm of a Shelbourne defender.

The result keeps Harps second in the table and still in the hunt for the title and promotion.

Leaders Wexford Youths scored two goals in the closing minutes to beat Cabinteely 3-2 and stay two points clear of a Harps with a game in hand while UCD beat Cobh 3-0 to stay two points behind Harps but they do have two games in hand on the Ballybifey side and one on Wexford.

After tonight's defeat fourth place Shelbourne are six points off Harps in table.
