The Chair of the Stormont Health Committee says there must be a commitment that the current number of respite beds available in the Western Trust area will be maintained.
Foyle MLA Maeve Mc Laughlin recently questioned Minister Simon Hamilton on the number of beds in the area, to be told there were 14, at The Cottages in Derry and in Omagh.
A review of the service is underway, and in recent months, users and their families expressed concern about the future of respite facilities.
