Fresh from a welcome home win over Longford Town last time out, Derry City made it two wins on the trot as they thrashed Galway FC 4-0 at Eamon Deacy Park.
The westerners may still have been celebrating their advance to the EA Sports League Cup Final but it was scoreless at the break.
However, City hit a purple patch in the third quarter.
New signing Ciaran O’Connor fired them ahead on 51 minutes.
Then the lively Mark Timlin slotted home a penalty on the hour before getting his second and Derry’s third on 63 minutes to seal the issue.
City then added a fourth goal on 88 minutes through Stephen Dooley.
This result lifts City up to eighth and they are now six points above the relegation play-0ff position.
After the game, Derry City manager Peter Hutton gave his verdict on his sides’ performance.
