A Derry and Strabane councillor has renewed calls for an ambulance to be permanently based in Castlederg.
Cllr Kieran McGuire says that a critically ill man who was involved in a farming accident victim from Aghyaran was left lying on the ground for 2 hours before an ambulance from Ballyshannon eventually arrived to take him to Altnagelvin area hospital.
The incident occured on Tuesday of last week, and the man remained on a ventilator until Monday.
Cllr McGuire says the delay could have cost the individual his life.
He says this area continues to be a ‘black spot’ for emergency ambulance cover and is reiterating his call for a full time service to be made available in Castlederg.........
