Derry lose qualifier in Galway

Championship football for Derry has come to end at the hands of Galway at Pearse Stadium.
The oak leaf county lost their round 3b tie of the All Ireland Qualifiers 1-11 to 0-7.
Derry lead by three points to no score early on but once Galway put a string of points together and hit the front they were always in control.
Derry lost Brendan Rodgers to a harsh black card as they went in at the break 8-5 down.
In the closing minutes Derry trailed 11-7 and had a claim for a penalty turned down as Galway countered to score the games only goal and seal up the tie.
It’s another bitter blow for Derry as Galway join Tyrone in the next round awaiting the losers of Sundays Ulster and Connacht Finals
