Five community initiatives in Donegal will compete in this year’s IPB Pride of Place Competition.
They include projects in Killybegs, Gortahork, Drumfries and Dunfanaghy, as well as Donegal Youth Council, which encompasses the whole county.
The Donegal projects which have been nominated are Killybegs Community Council, Coiste Pobail Ghort a’Choirce, the Sliabh Sneacht Centre in Drumfries, the Dunfanaghy Workhouse and Donegal Youth Council.
Judging will take place from the 24th to the 28th of August.
The competition is hosted by Cooperation Ireland under its Local Authority Programme, and Donegal County Council has been involved since 2007.
The competition is designed to promote community development, and recognise community groups who create viable, vibrant and visible communities, as well as providing essential services to maintain communities.
This year’s five entries were nominated by Donegal County Council following a series of interviews in April.
