Motor cyclist banned for speeding at 215 kilometres per hour

donegal town courtA motor-cyclist speeding at 215 kilometres per hour was banned from driving for a year today.
Donegal District Court heard that Zilvinas Jawkuskas was detected by a covert Garda speed detection unit on the N15 at Keadue, Barnesmore, outside Donegal town.
When Judge Kevin Kilrane was told the driver was apprehended later he asked: “Did he drive through the checkpoint?”
Inspector Dennis Joyce explained “It was a van working undercover that was doing the speed checks.”
Defence solicitor James Canny told the court that 33-year-old Jawkuskas, with an address in Orangefield Drive, Armagh, admitted the offence but he was driving on a clear, bright, Sunday morning.
Jawkuskas worked in Northern Ireland and used his licence to drive his family home to Europe.
Judge Kilrane fined Jawkuskas €100 for dangerous driving on April 19 and banned him from driving for a year in the jurisdiction of the Republic.
