Latest crime stats show a fall in burglaries in Co Donegal

The latest crime stats from the CSO show a progressive fall in the detection of burglaries in the Donegal division.

There has also been a continuing decline in the last 16 months in public order offences.
In the first quarter of this year there were 79 recorded burglary’s a fall on 42 on the same period last year – in the 16 months to the end of April a total 0f 487 burglaries were recorded.
Over the same period almost 1,400 public order offences were recorded with the statistcs showing a continued decrease quarter on quater since the start of last year.
From the year up to the end of April, 287 rape and sexual assaults were recorded while there were a total of 264 controlled drugs offences recorded.
The level of those being caught drink driving remains consistent quarter to quarter with 340 cases recorded – the detection of driving under the influence of drugs remains low – just 5 cases over the 15 month period in quesion
There were 2 homocides recorded in the Donegal division in the 16 months till the end of April, one case was classed as murder.
