Finn Harps knocked off top spot with Shels defeat

Finn Harps have lost top spot in the SSE Airtricity League First Division.
Having been 2-1 up at Tolka Park the Ballybofey Blues went down 3-2 to Shelbourne, as Wexford Youths moved to the head of the field with a 3-2 win over Cabinteely at Stradbrook.
Damien McNulty put Harps in front 11 minutes in but Shels Mark Sandford was sent off just three minutes later to give the Donegal side the numerical advantage.
Despite that Phillip Hughes equalised from the penalty spot for the Dublin boys only for Tony McNamee to put Harps back in front just after the restart. That was followed by another Hughes penalty nine minutes later after Keith Cowan was sent-off.
Hughes then bagged his hat-trick just four minutes later to put Shels 3-2 ahead and the Tolka boys held on to take the full points.
Harps  haven’t won a league since 16th May when the won in Cork against Cobh.
