The new Mayor of the Letterkenny Municipal District Council is Sinn Fein’s Gerry McMonagle.
He was selected yesterday evening at its annual general meeting in Termon.
His selection was no surprise as a deal was put into place following the last local elections about who would be Mayor over the five year term of the council.
Cllr McMonagle says he wants to bring the urban and rural areas together in the district in the year ahead:
