Harps suffer first league defeat

Finn Harps

Finn Harps lost for the first time in the league this season on Friday evening.

The Donegal side lost away to Athlone 1-0 as midfielder Marco Chindea scored the only goal of the game in the 68th minute.

Harps remain seven points clear at the top of the First Division as second placed Wexford Youths were beaten 3-2 at home by Shelbourne.

Next Friday night Harps welcome Wexford to Finn Park.

It's the second defeat in four days for Ollie Horgan's side after they lost in the cup on Monday night to Longford Town.

In the Premier Division, Derry City lost 3-0 at the Brandywell to St Patrick's Athletic.

Aaron Greene, James Chambers and Chris Forrester scored the goals, but the dominate scoreline does not reflect how Derry played.

The defeat was the Candystrips fourth lose at home this campaign.
