GRA joins calls for independent probe into circumstances of Galvin death

The Garda Representative Association says it’s ‘dismayed’ that GSOC is regarded as an appropriate agency to investigate the death of Sergeant Michael Galvin.
Srgt Galvin took his own life at Ballyshannon Garda Station in Donegal last Thursday.
He had been under investigation by the Garda Ombudsman, and was reportedly not aware he had been cleared of any wrong-doing.
The investigation focused on a fatal road traffic incident in Ballyshannon on New Year’s Day.
The GRA are echoing the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors’ call for an independent review into both GSOC’s investigation of Sergeant Galvin and his subsequent death.
