Harps hold out in Longford to force Cup replay

FAI Ford Senior Cup Showcases New Trophy
Ten man Finn Harps held out at the City Calling Stadium to force an FAI Senior Cup replay after a 1-1 draw with Premier Division Longford Town.
The Ballybofey club played 70 minutes of the tie with ten men, Damian McNulty was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Kaleem Simon, which infuriated Harps boss Ollie Horgan.
Just minutes after that incident, Harps took the lead with a strike from Gareth Harkin.
Town were back on level terms three minutes into the second half, Stephen Rice finished from close range.
The home side bossed the rest of the game but couldn’t grab the winning as Harps keeper Ciaran Gallagher was defiant in nets to force a second game and keep Harps unbeaten record intact.
Ollie Horgan missed the final minutes of the game on touch line, referee Rob Rodgers sent the Harps Manager to the stand when he once again aired his frustration from the dugout during a battleing performance by the blues.
The replay will be at Finn Park this coming Bank Holiday Monday 1st June at 8pm.
