The first votes in the Same Sex Marriage and Presidential Candidate Age Referendums are being cast on offshore islands today.
Polling booths are open today on five islands off Donegal ; Arranmore, Tory, Gola, Innisboffin, and Inishfree.
The rest of the country goes to the polls tomorrow, with counting in both Donegal constituencies on Saturday. Votes cast in Donegal North East will be counted at Bonagee in Letterkenny, votes cast in Donegal South West will be counted at the St John Bosco Centre in Donegal Town.
It’s likely to be the last time two counts take place in the county, with Donegal set to become a single five seat constituency for the next general election.
