Local community organisations in Derry and Strabane are being invited to take part in a new scheme aimed at tackling issues surrounding bonfires, and the associated problems affecting communities.
Derry City and Strabane District Council’s Good Relations Team is offering training events centrrd on fire safety, as well as discussions on finding positive alternatives to bonfires.
The courses will run from Friday next until Wednesday June 12th.
Carol Stewart is involved in planning the initiative – She says it emerged from a Peace 3 Project which was implemented in Derry four years ago, and is now being expanded and extended into the enlarged council district……….
