A late goal from Ruairi Keating ensured victory for Ollie Horgan’s in-form side as they overcame bottom of the table Waterford United in a five goal thriller at Finn Park.
Harps got off to a dream start with a wonderful strike from Michael Funston inside the first 20 seconds.
And it was 2-0 on six minutes with Wilfried Tagbo heading in a Gareth Harkin corner.
Funston then hit the post before Waterford drew level when Shaun Corcoran pulled one back on 20 minutes as he pounced from close range on a counter-attack.
Raymond Foy hit the side netting for Harps before the break and both sides had chances before Ross Fitzpatrick equalised for Waterford with 73 minutes on the clock.
But Keating was the hero as he found the target in the 86th minute.
Harps are now ten unbeaten in the First Division and still lead Wexford Youths by thre point at the top.
