Derry plans 2017 Fleadh bid, but may defer a year for Ennis

Organisers who brought the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil to Derry two years ago will bid for the festival to return, possibly in 2017.

Derry City and Strabane District Council lent its support to the move after a meeting with the Derry Comhaltas this week.

An estimated 400,000 people attended the event in 2013 when it was brought to Northern Ireland for the first time.

Gerry O'Hara from the Comhaltas Derry city branch says although a bid will go ahead, when it's for will depend on whether or not Ennis decides to bid for 2017.........
