Police promise extra weekend patrols in Galliagh

Police in Derry will be stepping up their patrols in the Galliagh area this weekend after incidents last weekend involving young people, two of whom were arrested.
There were reports of young people throwing petrol around and setting it alight, on some occasions throwing it at each other.
Yesterday, Chief Inspector Tony Callaghan and other PSNI representatives attended a meeting of community leaders, politicians and others to discuss the Galliagh situation.
Speaking on today’s Shaun Doherty Show, he said last weekend’s incidents, many of which involved people not from the area, cannot just be put down to “high spirits”………..
