Mac Lochlainn calls for guarantees on future of Irish language secondary education in Inishowen

A Donegal TD has rejected any suggestion that there is no demand for an Irish language secondary school in Inishowen.
Deputy Pádraig Mac Lochlainn was responding to news that Gaelchloláiste Chineál Eoghain may close this year.
Deputy Mac Lochlainn says there are Irish language nursery schools in Buncrana, Carndonagh and Moville, and national schools in Buncrana and Moville.
He says there have been internal difficulties within Gaelchloláiste Chineál Eoghain which have not been tackled by either the Donegal VEC, or more recently, the ETB.
That, he says, has led to uncertainty, a lack of confidence, and consequently, a severe drop in enrolment.
He’s calling on the ETB and the Department of Education to do what is necessary to ensure that Irish language secondary education continues in Inishowen…………
