Corncrake being pitted against the people of NW Donegal – O’Domhnaill

Seamus O'Domhnaill

A Donegal Councillor is accusing the National Parks and Wildlife Service of putting the corncrake before the people of North West Donegal.

Cllr Seamus O'Domhnaill was speaking ahead of a public meeting tonight to discuss a plan to designate a Special Protection Area between Falcarragh and Meenlaragh, a move which he claims will prevent building and severely restrict local farmers, while doing little to help the bird the move is supposed to be protecting.

Tonight's meeting in Magheroarty will discuss what options are open to appeal the SPA, with Cllr O'Domhnaill saying this is a serious situation which has been introduced without discussion or consultation..........
