A Stranorlar area councillor has claimed that some of  Donegal's roads may have to close, because they are in such a bad condition.

Cllr Frank Mc Brearty says with maintenance expenditure cut-back by an estimated €80 million over the past five years, many Donegal roads are falling apart.

It recently emerged that in the Finn Valley area, the funding for Donegal County Council this year will cover works on just 23.5 km of the 900 km of roads in the Finn Valley.

Cllr McBrearty now wants Donegal Co. Council to seek “an exceptional needs grant” of €100 million from the Government for the county’s roads

He says the roads here are the worst in the country.........
