Gardai had to tend to injured man while waiting for emergency services

court hammerA court has heard that Gardai had to tend to the injured at the scene of an alleged assault causing harm, while waiting for the emergency services to arrive.
The incident happened at about six o’clock on Tuesday evening when a man and a woman were allegedly assaulted in Ballyshannon.
Gardai were called to the scene and arrested a man who appeared in court in Donegal town yesterday
Garda Martin McCarron told the court he had responded to a report of a serious incident at 6pm on Station Road, Ballyshannon on Tuesday March 3.
He said that two people were injured and he attended to their injuries while waiting for the arrival of the emergency services.
One of the injured was taken to Sligo Regional Hospital.
Garda McCarron arrested, charged and cautioned Jason McDonagh, Station Road, Ballyshannon in connection with the alleged assault at the scene.
The 24 year-old defendant is charged with assault causing harm to Patrick Ward and Angela Ward.
The defendant is denying the charges.
When charged, he said; ‘I didn’t do nothing, he was coming at me, it was me or him”.
Judge Kevin Kilrane remanded the defendant in custody and he’ll appear before Harristown Court on Friday for DPP directions.
