Donegal succumbed to Mayo at O’ Donnell Park, Letterkenny in their first game in the National Hurling League, Div. 2B. Donegal trailed by just 2 points at Half Time: Mayo 1 – 7  Donegal 0 – 8pts. Donegal centre half back Joe Boyle retired injured just before half time.
Mayo were the stronger team after the break and 2 goals from Brian Hunt consolidated victory for the westerners. Lee Henderson top scored for Donegal with 10 pts, while Eddie Lynch scored the goal.
