McHugh’s Sligo back in Sigerson Cup

Martin Mc HughMartin Mc Hugh’s IT Sligo have been reinstated to the Sigerson Cup.
The college was dumped out of the competition along with Queens with both sides reported for breaking player rules.
Queens who lost to Sligo in the first round had three players registered at Strandmills College while Sligo were banned for playing St Michael’s Stephen Doak who is president of Sligo’s students union.
While the rule not allowing Sabbatical Officers to play had been included in the rulebook in the past, it simply had been omitted from the current constitution.
Sligo are now back in the competition and will face UCC in the last of the Sigerson Cup quarter-finals this Friday.
Meanwhile, there was good news for Queens University Belfast, who will now be officially allowed to play students from Stranmillis University College.
