Record breaking weekend for Donegal athletes

It was another record breaking weekend for Donegal athletes.
Tori Pena of Finn Valley ac set a new indoor Irish pole vault record, John Kelly threw a new Donegal shot putt mark and Gary Murray set a new Donegal Half Marathon record.
Jumping at New Mexico on Saturday, Pena cleared 4.46m which was a 1cm improvement on her previous mark from 2012 in Reno .
It is also a qualifying mark for the European Indoor Championships in Prague next month should she choose to compete.
John Kelly a student at Lyit won the Irish University indoor shot putt title at Athlone I T, setting a new Donegal record for the event getting out to a very respectable 15.83m .
He is only the 3rd Donegal athlete in history to hold the shot record.
Stranolar’s Gary Murray is the fastest Donegal man over a half marathon.
He hit the time time 69.38 in London on Sunday.
Meanwhile at the National Masters Cross Country in Galway, Letterkenny’s Natasha Adams won the women’s event leading Donegal to the first county. Finn Valley won the team race.
Donegal’s Ciaran Doherty and Pauric McKinney were second and third in the mens with the county finshing second to Dublin
