McLaughlin and McCaigue pick up Ulster awards

Geraldine McLaughlin writers2Termon’s Geraldine Mc Laughlin and Slaughtneil’s Chrissy McCaigue picked up their Ulster GAA Writers Association awards this week.
Hotshot forward McLaughlin netted a fantastic 3-8 when leading her team to victory in the All-Ireland Ladies’ SFC final during November. That performance put all other displays a little in the shade.
Not only did Geraldine fire home 3-8 but she also had a hand in all of the other Termon scores and that despite playing with a damaged leg. Had she not have had that drawback one wonders what sort of total the Sligo IT Recreation & Leisure under-graduate would have totted up!
This is the second time that Geraldine has won the Monthly Merit award. When Termon collected the Ulster title in 2010 for the first time it was teenager Geraldine who pushed the team on to victory. That was October 2010.
Chrissy McCaigue had a storming month of October when he was in action with his club Slaughtneil every weekend, mixing football and hurling and helping the footballers into the Ulster Club SFC final and the hurlers into the semi-finals. Then he took off to Australia with the Ireland team for the Compromise Rules.
