Donegal man who helped rescue two youths from drowning to be honoured

rathmullan pierA young Donegal man who helped rescue two youths from drowning at Rathmullan Pier is to be honoured for his bravery.
Sean Haughey, from Drumkeen, is to be presented with an Irish Water Safety Award after being nominated by Donegal County Council.
He’ll be presented with his award on Tuesday November 18th at St. George’s Hall in Dublin Castle by the Environment Minister Alan Kelly.
In August this year Mark McCrabb was swimming off Rathmullan with a friend who got into difficulty in the water. Mark tried to save him, but was struggling on his own. Then, 21-year-old Sean Haughey who was fishing on Rathmullan Pier, saw what was happening and jumped in.
Speaking a few days after to Highland Radio News, Mark McCrabbe said without the help of Sean Haughey, someone would have drowned:
