Cathal Corey’s name put forward for Donegal job with nominations to close at 5pm today

Cathal CoreyNominations for the Donegal Senior, U21 and Minor managerial positions close today at 5pm.
It’s being reported this morning that Cathal Corey has entered the race to replace Jim Mc Guinness.
According to the Star newspaper, Corey has been nominated by the Naomh Conaill club
Back in 2009, McGuinness and Corey were joint managers of Naomh Conaill when they lost the Senior Football Championship Final.
Corey was in sole charge the following year when the Glenties club won the Donegal title.
Up until yesterday just one candidate had been declared for the role.
That was Paddy Carr who was nominated by the Fanad Gaels club.
Kilcar Manager Rory Gallagher remains firm favourite for the post although he is yet to make his intentions clear.
Meanwhile Declan Bonner is believed to be considering his position. The Na Rossa man told the county board he wants to remain as the Donegal minor manager after guiding this years team to the All Ireland Final.
That position however is being contested by Sean Paul Barrett from Milford. Bonner still has to confirm if he will let his name go forward again.
There’s a three way contest for the U21 job with last year’s manager Maxi Curran, former St Eunan’s manager Eamon O’Boyle and Buncrana’s Gavin Duffy all in the running.
