Hugh Grant has dropped the bombshell that he will not be starring in the upcoming Bridget Jones film, Bridget’s Baby.
Despite reassuring us a couple of years ago that he would be reprising his role as love rat Daniel Cleaver, Hugh admitted he backed out of the third instalment.
“I decided not to do it,” he told The Daily Telegraph.
“But I think they’re going to go ahead and do it without Daniel.”
Helen Fielding only penned the third book Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy last year, which is set 18 years after we last met the lovable blonde and sees a 40-something Bridget yearning for a baby.
Despite the forthcoming film involving Helen, apparently it will take a rather different turn than the novel where, SPOILER ALERT, Mark Darcy is killed off – but directors have decided to spare his life.
Thank god for that, I don’t think we could cope with a Bridget Jones instalment without both Hugh Grant and Colin Firth.
