The Acting Chief Fire Officer in Donegal says a small fire at the Beach Hotel in Downings last night shows the importance of effective drills and alarm systems.
The fire at the hotel was confined to one room, and Sean Campbell has paid tribute to the staff and management at the hotel, saying their swift action and the way they worked with the fire teams at the scene helped ensure the blaze did not spread.
Speaking to Greg Hughes on the Shaun Doherty Show, Mr Campbell said the situation could have been much worse…….

At present, the fire service is tackling a blaze in a bitumen silo at a quarry in Churchill. It’s hoped that will be fully dealt with shortly.
