3 due in court in connection with Manorcunningham post office robbery

manorpoGardai in Letterkenny investigating the robbery of a post office in Manorcunningham  have charged three men.
They will appear at Letterkenny District Court at 10.30am on Monday the 6th October 2014.
The three men were arrested  following a robbery of a post office in Manorcunningham on Saturday.
The robbery occurred at approximately 10.15am when three males entered the post office in Manorcunningham, they were armed with a knife, a hammer and a sledge hammer/hatchet.
They threatened staff and caused a considerable amount of damage in the post office before fleeing with a sum of money in the direction of Newtowncunningham in a van.
The van was stopped by Gardai close to the border at the village of Killea and the three males(in their 20’s and 30’s) were arrested.  The van was seized and is being forensically examined.
Earlier,  Gardai had been alerted by PSNI that a Royal Mail postal van had been hijacked by three males in Foyle, Co. Derry at approximately 9.50am on the 4th October 2014 and fled in the direction on Co Donegal.
