The Sinn Féin Leader says the Irish Government must act fast or the Gaeltacht will cease to exist.

Gerry Adams was speaking at today's Sinn Féin Slógadh in Derry.

Mr Adams says experts insist the Gaeltacht will cease to exist within 30 years if action is not taken now.

He went on to praise the work of the former language commissioner Seán Ó Cuirreáin and promised Sinn Féin's support to his successor Rónan Ó Domhnaill adding that the Irish Language Commissioner was forced to leave his post due to the Government's inaction.
