City too good for Malahide in the Cup

Derry City advanced to the last eight of the Ford FAI Cup with a comfortable victory over Malahide United at the Brandywell.

City won 3-0 against the Leinster Senior League outfit, but it could have been much more.

The visitors defended well in the first half but the pressure paid off for the Candystripes after the break with Patrick McEleaney, Michael Duffy and Philip Lowry finding the target.

Manager Peter Hutton was well pleased with the outcome afterwards when he spoke with Martin Holmes.
