Council decision granting permission for Letterkenny Casino upheld

CasinoAn Bord Pleanala has dismissed an objection to a private members casino club on the Ramelton Road in Letterkenny.
The board said the objection was without Substance or Foundation.
Majestic Casino Limited was granted permission to operate a bingo hall on the Ramelton Road in Letterkenny by the council but it had been operating as a casino.
While the council refused a subsequent application for permission for the retention of advertising signage, the change of use to a casino was granted subject to a number of conditions.
This despite an objection from a resident of Solomon’s Hill – he argued the planning laws were being made a mockery of as An Bord Pleanala had refused a similar Casino development for which the council had also granted permission.
This week An Bord Pleanalla upheld the council decision for the Ramelton Road casino – it dismissed the appeal stating it was without Substance/Foundation and that the change of use to a casino stands.
This because the board could not contact the 3rd party who lodged the appeal.
