Kate Lindsay, 19, was crowned on Sunday night as the ten day event drew to a close.
The eldest of three of a family, Kate was at the festival on her own as she is about to commenced studies in Dublin. The Engineering and Commerce student visited Dungloe when she was two years old to see where her mum Jane Daly worked as a dental graduate in the eighties.
She was chosen unanimously by the judging panel from the thirteen girls who participated in this year's festival.
Singer Daniel O'Donnell was among the first on stage to congratulate her and he later serenaded her on the main street stage in Dungloe.
