McGlinchey one win away from Commonwealth medal

Commonwealth GamesThe Commonwealth Games continue today with Stephen McGlinchey looking to secure a medal in Boxing.
The Derry fighter takes on Kenyan Elly Ajowi Ochola in the quarter finals of the 81kg Light Heavyweight Division tonight.
A win would guarantee a bronze medal for McGlinchey.
Last night Derry middleweight Connor Coyle reached the quarter finals.
A fine third round performance saw Coyle defeat Guyana’s Dennis Thomas 3-0 to progress to the last eight.
Coyle will be back in the ring on Wednesday.
Defending Commonwealth champion Paddy Barnes progressed to the quarter finals of the men’s Light Flyweight division with a TKO win over his Tanzanian opponent, Hamadi Omari Furahisha and Olympic Medalist Michael Conlan reached the bantamweight quarter finals with a win over India’s Shiva Thapa.
Meanwhile at Hampden Park, Finn Valley’s Dempsey McGuigan finished 6th in Monday’s hammer at the Commonwealth Games.
In Group A of the Qualifier, McGuigan’s best throw came on his third attempt when he threw 66.16 metres.
His finish which was over seven and a half metres off the leader Nicholas Miller wasn’t enough to progress in the competition.
