Man charged with attempted murder after Derry stabbing

knifeA 44-year-old man is to appear in court this morning charged with attempted murder after a man was stabbed in Derry over the weekend.

A 43-year-old man was stabbed in the back in the early hours of yesterday morning:

A 44-year-old man will appear in court in Derry charged with attempted murder, threats to kill, attempted grevious bodily harm, two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault and possessing weapon with intent.

The charges are in relation to an incident at a house in Summer Meadows Park shortly after 3am yesterday morning.

A 43-year-old man was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital where he is being treated for a stab wound to his back.
His condition is said to be stable.

The man charged will is expected to appear in court later this morning.
