Pat the Cope Gallagher
Midlands North West MEP Marian Harkin has paid tribute to Pat The Cope Gallagher who has lost his seat following a four day count which saw the two of them separated by 275 votes.
A recheck of votes began yesterday morning, and when, by 4 o’clock this morning, it became clear that the gap would not be bridged, Mr Gallagher conceded defeat and Ms Harkin was declared elected.
Speaking to Greg Hughes on the Shaun Doherty Show this morning, Marian Harkin said the manner of his actions are a testament to his character……

Speaking on the same programme, Pat The Cope Gallagher declined to comment on his future.
In a reference to the fact that Donegal is set to become a single five seater Dail constituency, Mr Gallagher said he loves playing on the big pitch. However, with the emotion of the past few days clear in his voice, he said it’s a decision for another day…………….

Tributes have also been paid today to Pat The Cope Gallagher by Junior Minister Dinny Mc Ginley, who has responsibility for the Gaeltacht, a position once held by Pat the Cope when he was a Junior Minister in the Dail…………
