Independent Niamh Kennedy tops the Donegal poll

niamhkennedyKillybegs community activist Niamh Kennedy will increase the female representation on Donegal County Council proving a hit with voters.
Tallies have Ms Kennedy topping the poll in Donegal 12.5%  (1,716)of the vote.
A turnout of 63.8% delivered a 11.8% share of first preferences for Fianna Fail’s Sean McEniff while Donegal Town Independent many people’s expectations with 1,517 first preferences.
Sinn Fein may question a two candidate approach with Michael McMahon and Noel Jordan with 954 and 1,068 first preferences each.
Fine Gael’s Barry O’Neill managed 1,066 votes, his running partner John Boyle might be worried sitting on 865 votes.
Fianna Fail’s Brenden Byrne will hope to return to Lifford with 1,082 first preferences while independent John Campbell can’t be ruled out with 1,192 first preferences.
Counting of votes starts at 9am Sunday morning at  the St John Bosco Centre.
