Tirconaill Tribune poll shows rise in support for Independents in Letterkenny/Milford

TirconaillT2An election opinion poll published in this week’s Tirconaill Tribune for the Letterkenny/Milford Electoral Area shows non-party candidates are set to win almost 43% of the first preference vote.
The poll among 500 people in the area shows party profiles since the last local elections in 2009.
Fianna Fail is on 23%: down by 17.7%: Fine Gael is on 16.3%: down by 8.4%: Sinn Fein is at 13.4%: an increase of 5%. Labour remains unchanged at just 3.7%. However the non-party bandwagon is on a roll reaching a figure of 42.7%. This is an increase of 20.3% in five years.
Also 35% of those polled said they do not intend voting at all.
At the same time there is a factor of a further 40% that is undecided what way they intend to vote.
