Donegal County Cllrs earned over €1.8m between 2012 and 2013

Donegal County Cllrs were paid over €1.8 million between 2012 and 2013.

On average each Cllr was paid 32,000 in 2012, and 29,000 in 2013.

Donegals highest paid politician between 2012 and 2013 was former Mayor Cllr Frank McBrearty, who earned just over 92,000 in two years.

In 2012 Cllr Frank McBrearty earned 47,030, while in 2013 he earned 45,161, while the current Mayor Ian McGarvey earned 45,242.

The serving Mayor between 2011 and 2012, Noel McBride, earned 47,858 in 2012.

Cllrs who have served as Mayor of Donegal would earn slightly more as they would attend more engagements than any other Cllr.

Meanwhile, the highest earning Cllr who was not Mayor between 2012 and 2013 was Cllr Brendan Byrne, he earned 47,006 in 2012 and 40,303 in 2013.

The next highest earning Cllr who was not a Mayor during the last two years was Cllr David Alcorn, he earned 47,959 in 2012 and 38,779 in 2013.
