A Councillor says a road closure in Letterkenny today, which led to significant traffic jams and delays for motorists, underlines the importance of the proposed Bonagee Link Bridge Road.
The road was closed after a 23 year-old man was critically injured in a single vehicle collision on the Port road between the Polestar and Dry Arch Roundabouts.
Councillor Gerry McMonagle says the resulting road closure not only brought Letterkenny to a standstill but could also hinder the emergency services if there was another major incident.
The extent of the traffic delays was captured by Highland listener Martin Gibbons.
Councillor McMonagle has appealed to all agencies concerned with the road closure to make their views known to Government and to put pressure on it to move on the Bonagee Link Road across the River Swilly:
