Update – Men arrested after attempted robbery in Carndonagh

Three men have been arrested and questioned following a robbery in Carndonagh.
Yesterday afternoon at around 2 o’clock, three men entered a house at The Mullins which was occupied by two young women. The men, two in their late teens and one in his early twenties, tied up the two women and threatened them.
They ransacked the house and got away with a number of items and some cash.
However, one women managed to escape and raise the alarm, and a number of local people subsequently apprehended and detained two men. After a while, gardai arrived and formally arrested the men. A third man was arrested an hour later.
The three were detained and questioned under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, before they were released last night.
Files are being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
