Praveen Halappanavar to take medical negligence case over the death of Savita

Praveen Halappanavar is to take a medical negligence case in the High Court over the death of Savita.

According to the Irish Times there are multiple grounds for the legal action.

The hospital and the HSE have both apologised for the events surrounding 31 year old’s death. Although they have not publicly accepted liability.

Reporter with the Irish Times Kitty Holland says the inquest into Savita’s death found a list of basic medical checks were not carried out.

“A whole litany of basics from almost the moment Savita presented at Galway University Hospital on October 21st – from blood tests not being followed up, blood tests not being done indeed, failure to diagnose in a timely fashion what was happening with her, failure to chart on her observation chart” she said.
