Update – Man who admits Eugene Maloney’s manslaughter to be sentenced in two weeks time

The brother of the late journalist Eugene Moloney has called his violent death senseless and unnecessary. Sean Maloney made his comments at a sentencing hearing today. Sentence will be passed in two week’s time.

Next Monday marks the first anniversary of Eugene Moloney s death.
The journalist got into a row and was punched in the neck on Camden Street on his way home from a stag party.

In a victim impact statement Eugene Moloney’s brother Sean called the killing senseless and unnecessary in a society where senseless violence is sadly becoming the norm.
Judge Mary Ellen Ring will finalise sentencing in 2 weeks time.
