Rent allowances in Donegal to be cut from next week

People in receipt of rent supplements in Donegal will see their payments fall from next Monday.

Last night, Minister Joan Burton announced that those living in urban areas will see their payments increase to 75 euro to match a continuing trend of rising rent. However, the payment will, however, fall for those living outside of urban centres as rents continue to decline in rural areas.............

This means that from next week, the maximum monthly amount payable in Donegal will range from €175 for a single person in shared accommodation to €450 for a couple or single parent family with three children.

That represents a loss of between 20 and 50 euro.
