Public meeting to discuss bed closures and future of Carndonagh Hospital

Hundreds are expected to attend a public meeting tonight to get an update on the campaign to save services at Carndonagh Community Hospital and to discuss the future direction of the campaign.

There have been further closures of beds at the facility which is being attributed to unfavourable HIQA reports on staffing levels.

Former GP John Madden has again called for HIQA to be suspended until the country's finances improve - he says with the recruitment embargo, less staff need to be allowed do more:

The meeting takes place in The Colgan Hall tonight (Friday) at 8pm
