Concerns over link between new drugs cocktail and suicide in the Northwest

There is concern that the emergence of a new cocktail of drugs may be linked to a number of incidents of attempted suicide in the northwest.
The North West Regional Drug and Alcohol Task force has briefed the Health Promotion Unit in Letterkenny over their concerns.
They are concerned that the use of the D10 drug, in conjunction with others, has led to a suicide cluster in Derry.
Mental Health experts are now warning of a possible connection with the drug and Donegal, particularly the use of methphedrone with prescribed drugs.
There is particular concern that the drug D10 is being taken with other drugs which produces an extreme high – however the come down is very serious and there have been a number of attempted suicides with users.
It is thought the drug was widely available during a recent event at Bridgend.
